The Lip Blush Process
Have you ever wondered how lip permanent makeup is performed ?
Cosmetic tattooing has come a long way over the past few years. Rather than the harsh lines and bold colours associated with early procedures, modern cosmetic tattoos have learned how to make permanent also known as semi-permanent makeup look beautiful and natural. It can be an extremely natural-looking cosmetic tattoo procedure or more defined style for those who like the more vibrant appearance of their lips and all treatments are exclusively offered in our luxury London clinics.
What is Lip Blushing?
Lip blushing is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo procedure that adds a tint of colour to a person’s lips. Most lip blush tattoos are designed to last two to three years.
Lip blush can be used to fix minor symmetry issues, camouflage scars and improve the overall shape. You can use lip blush to enhance lips that are too cool or dark in tone, and you can also use lip blush to add pigment to areas of the lips lacking in pigment. The pigments used in lip blush tattoos are designed to fade with time, and the result is designed to either obtain a light flush of colour, or a stronger makeup effect.
Lip blush tattoos take approximately 2 hours to complete from start to finish. Numbing cream is applied at the beginning of the appointment and stays on for approximately 20 minutes before tattooing begins.
What to expect:
A Skin patch test and consultation form are posted to you.
For your first lip blush appointment, please allow no less than 2 h.
When you arrive we will go through your consultation forms to ensure nothing has changed before we can begin the session and complete in depth consultation.
We will take some 'before' pictures to keep as reference, for insurance and to use on social media BUT we never use clients full face and only cutting of the treatment area.
We will map the shape using your natural facial features. We can only go up to 1mm outside of the vermillion border (lip line) whenever possible, which is not always the case. You'll of course get to assess and approve the shape.
Once the lips numb -
The tattooing can begin!
El will explain the treatment to you as she goes along so you feel comfortable. Once we complete the treatment the after photos will be taken and the aftercare balm applied.
Lip Blushing Aftercare
Your aftercare will be explained but it is good to remember that swelling and light bruising is common so do not be alarmed by this. It'll go down (approx 48 hrs). You will receive thorough aftercare advice and will receive an aftercare kit and strict aftercare instructions. to follow over the following 6 weeks.
Lip Blushing Retouch
At your 6 week to 3 months later retouch appointment we will go back over the lips the same way we did the first time if another layer of colour is needed or only adjust some areas that might not hold enough pigment. Your healed lips should then last you around 2 - 3 years BUT annual maintenance visits are recommended as pigments fade with time and 1 year later the colour will be softer / faded a bit.
