Saline Removal for Microblading and Semi / Permanent Makeup
Permanent makeup and cosmetic tattooing are designed to last, but there are times when the results no longer suit your preferences. Whether you are unhappy with the shape, colour, saturation, or previous work has faded unevenly, saline and alkaline tattoo removal can help lighten or remove unwanted pigment safely and effectively.
Unlike laser tattoo removal, which uses light energy to break down pigment particles, saline and alkaline removal works by encouraging the body to naturally lift pigment from the skin. During the treatment, a sterile saline solution is implanted into the skin using a tattooing device. This creates a controlled response that helps draw pigment towards the surface of the skin while also stimulating the body's natural healing processes.
How Does Saline and Alkaline Tattoo Removal Work?
Following treatment, the skin forms a protective scab as part of the normal healing process. As the skin heals, some of the unwanted pigment is lifted into the scab. When the scab naturally sheds over the following 7 to 14 days, it takes a portion of the pigment with it.
At the same time, your body's lymphatic system continues to process and remove pigment particles from the treated area. This natural clearing process continues for several weeks after your appointment, which is why results become more visible as healing progresses.
Saline or Alkaline Removal?
Different pigments respond differently to removal treatments. Factors such as pigment colour, depth, age, and chemical composition all influence the best approach.
At Perfect Definition, we use both saline and alkaline removal methods, selecting the most appropriate solution for each individual case. This allows us to target a wide range of cosmetic tattoo pigments, including stubborn colours and saturated areas that may be more resistant to removal.
What Can Saline and Alkaline Removal Treat?
Saline and alkaline tattoo removal can be used to improve or remove:
-
Unwanted eyebrow tattoos, Microblading and Permanent Makeup
-
Oversaturated and heavily implanted pigment
-
Poorly shaped eyebrows
-
Discoloured or migrated pigment
-
Lip Blush corrections
-
Scalp Micropigmentation corrections
What results can I Expect?
Most clients require a series of treatments to achieve their desired outcome. The number of sessions needed depends on the type of pigment, how deeply it was implanted, and the amount of lightening required.
Saline and alkaline tattoo removal provide a safe, controlled alternative to laser treatment and can be particularly effective for cosmetic tattoo corrections. During your consultation, we will assess your existing pigment and create a personalised treatment plan to help you achieve the best possible result.
