Celebrity eyebrows – then and now
It seems like — almost overnight — the world has become eyebrow-obsessed. And, well, with good reason. As they say: You live and you learn. But that doesn't mean those often regrettable moments go undocumented.
In this article El Truchan gives her honest and expert opinion on some of her favourite celebrity eyebrow transformations. One note: The following ladies are stunning in both their before and their after shots, but there's no arguing how much a new set of brows can transform the face.
1) Adele
BEFORE
Adele first came into our lives with a larger-than-life bun in tow, no cat-eye in sight, and discreet brows.
El’s opinion -
“Thin and too pale eyebrows made her look washed out while the eye makeup looks over exaggerated making her eyes looks smaller.”
AFTER
El’s opinion –
“Fuller, darker and natural looking eyebrows despite having the heavier makeup implementation. Allows for a heavier eye and lip makeup while keeping her face looking fresh and balanced. Fantastic transformation!”
2) Drew Barrymore
BEFORE
Young Drew Barrymore really took the'90s over-tweezed brow trend to heart — some might even say she was the thin-brow poster girl of the decade.
El’s opinion -
“These eyebrows were badly over plucked and created the receding effect. Also the eyebrow shape was too rounded for her face.”
AFTER
El’s opinion -
“Huge improvement! Fuller and much more natural looking eyebrows. Great colour match to her skin tone! Also note how the arch is now in the correct place and the fronts of the eyebrows have been brought forward to where they should start for her face symmetry."
3) Jennifer Lopez
BEFORE
Jennifer Lopez's back-in-the-day brows definitely weren't the thinnest of the bunch...
El’s opinion -
“These eyebrows were of a correct shape for Jennifer. A very groomed look and there is nothing wrong with that!”
AFTER
El’s opinion -
“Nice fuller eyebrows style. Softer look which suits her beautifully with that hair colour. Great shape and lovely lift at the arch.”
4) Megan Fox
BEFORE
Yes this is a younger looking Megan Fox!
El’s opinion –
“These eyebrows were too thin for her lovely and very symmetrical face. There was no character to the eyebrows and they didn't frame the more made up eye look very well.”
AFTER
El’s opinion –
“I'm glad to see this transformation! Beautiful fuller eyebrows which are much more suitable to her face features. Great colour that is working well with her hair, skin and eye makeup.”
5) Madonna
BEFORE
Naturally, the most unfortunate eyebrow mishap belongs to the one and only Madonna, who never does anything halfway.
El’s opinion
“From one extreme to another. These old school thin, flat eyebrows give her a washed out and very vacant look. The rest of the makeup is looking harsh on the expression-less face...”
AFTER
El’s opinion -
“It's an improvement but... for her age I would suggest a less fluffy and more groomed look. The new eyebrows are of much better shape but a bit too thick and too bushy as an overall result.”
